Happy International Day of Person with disabilities
Yes. To all of you.
As We tapping the statuses on my WhatsApp today, We came to cross some posts by a dear friend wishing “international day of Persons With Disabilities (PWDs)”. And, it was only posted by her. Perhaps due to the fact that she has a wheelchair, which is her legs and a remote on it moves her around.
She posted those pictures and quotes on Disabilities because she solely feels to be the ambassador of PWDs rights. But, the truth is different.
She’s is the strongest and one of the most able people I ever came across. She drives her wheelchair crazily and calls it her Mercedes – She swings and dances – makes cute TikTok and likes videos of herself… She appreciates herself, her beauty, and her ability, every day. With limited functioning of her fingers, she incredibly uses Android to social media posters, edit photos, type documents, and what not? – She is the founder and president of a foundation – runs it well. She travels on Uber alone and wishes to travel on local transport i.e. LTC, Speedo (if they allow) – With unclear speech, she speaks great and motivates me hell. All her words sound like quotes to me, full of positivity, optimism, and encouragement. This bubbly, sweet, charming, and always-happy lady is “the most able in her capacity” that I know.
People know Muneeba Mazari, but We know her. She’s Ayesha Malik Awan
Shouldn’t we be wishing her? Instead of her wishing us? But no. She’s right. She needs to wish us this day and we deserve to take that greeting.
Because we are all disabled individuals of this society who has not been able to do anything for people who lack functioning of some body parts… Maybe because many of us lack the functioning of heart and mind, soul.
We are the truly “disabled” who can not stand for their rights, their happiness, let alone not standing for our own rights and happiness. We’re the ones not able to appreciate ourselves or even satisfied with our bodies.
We are the ones with the disability of speaking up for the truth – disability to give selfless help and support – disability to do all that we’re physically able to do…
Happy International Day of Persons with disabilities to us all.
